The Project

The Intl. Domestic Violence Memorial (herein known as the IDVM) is seeking artist(s) to participate in producing artwork for a commemorative giant lantern which will feature four glass mural mosaics consisting of artwork from 240 artists across the globe. The project will also feature a community garden that includes landscaped plazas, children’s play area, water features, educational activities, and maze designed by Adrian Fisher, LLC. The memorial is to honor victims of domestic violence, intimate partner abuse, and child abuse. Donor recognition will be integral to the design.

The total project area is approximately one acre (4,840 square yards or 43,560 square feet). The commemorative lantern consists of 240 1’ x 1’ individual glass panels. Each glass mural is 10’ (h) x 6’ (w) and is comprised of 60 1’ x 1’ glass panels.
Using a licensed technique, selected artist(s) will be asked to paint their image onto plywood overtop the original master image. The IDVM will provide the plywood and master image as a guide for each artist to follow using instructions provided therein. After which, all artwork will be transferred directly to glass by Palace of Glass and installed within the commemorative lantern.

The key collaborative project team includes Be a Voice Arts, Courage Network, Angelica Harris, Window Between World (Art Therapy Team), Northeastern Group Consulting, Adrian Fisher Design, LLC, The Mural Mosaic Team, Palace of Glass and National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV).
